Fill AcroForm fields — text boxes, checkboxes, dropdowns, and signature fields — directly in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to any server. Your document and your data stay on your device at all times.
Click Choose files or drag your PDF into the drop zone. The tool detects all interactive fields automatically — text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns, and signature fields.
Type into text fields, toggle checkboxes, pick dropdown options. For signature fields, tap Tap to sign — a signing pad appears where you draw your signature with your finger or mouse.
Click Fill PDF Form. The filled document is generated in your browser in seconds and downloaded directly to your device — no waiting, no email, no account.
IRS W-9, W-4, I-9, and most government AcroForms are fully supported. All interactive fields are detected and rendered as fillable inputs.
Patient intake forms, HIPAA authorization forms, and insurance claims contain sensitive health data. Processing them locally means that information never reaches a third-party server.
Onboarding paperwork, direct deposit authorizations, and non-disclosure agreements often require a signature. Use the built-in signature pad to sign without printing.
Service agreements, rental contracts, and consent forms with AcroForm fields can be filled and signed in one step. The resulting PDF is a standard document that opens in Adobe Reader, Preview, and any other viewer.
Most online PDF fillers upload your document to a remote server, process it there, and return the result. That means a copy of your form — with all the data you filled in — is transmitted over the internet and temporarily stored on someone else's hardware.
PDFree works differently. The entire filling operation runs inside your browser using pdf-lib and pdf.js, two battle-tested open-source libraries. Your PDF and everything you type into it never leave your device. No server receives your data, not even PDFree's own servers.

No. Everything runs in your browser using pdf-lib and pdf.js. Neither your original PDF nor the filled version is ever sent to a server. PDFree does not have access to your document.
PDFree detects AcroForm interactive fields. If the PDF is a scanned image or a flat document without embedded form fields, you will see a "No fillable fields found" message. For flat PDFs you can use the Annotate or Watermark tools to add text overlays.
A drawn signature image inserted into a PDF is an electronic signature. Its legal validity depends on jurisdiction and context — for many everyday documents (consent forms, internal approvals, rental agreements) it is sufficient. For regulated legal contexts, consider a certified e-signature service that provides an audit trail.
Only if you have the owner password. Encrypted PDFs with edit restrictions cannot be filled without the credentials. Remove the password first using the Protect PDF tool (enter the password, then save with no new password).
